Easter - at the Castel Brewery
Lassen sie es sich gutgehen!
Over the Easter holidays, we're offering traditional dishes.
For example, green sauce (homemade with seven herbs) with eggs, lamb, meatloaf, or fresh German asparagus with melted butter or hollandaise sauce.
We recommend pairing your meal with one of our house-brewed beers or a glass of wine from the city of Mainz's winery.
Take a seat in our sunny beer garden or on our covered terrace. We look forward to your visit!

The History of Bock Beer:
The origin of this beer style lies in the former Hanseatic city of Einbeck in Lower Saxony. With the granting of city rights in 1240 by the sons of Henry the Lion, the citizens also received brewing rights. The top-fermented beer brewed in the Middle Ages was considered a luxury item and was exported over long distances, including as far as Italy. To achieve the necessary shelf life, it was brewed with an unusually high original gravity. The result was a heavy, high-alcohol beer.
The ducal court of the Wittelsbachs in Munich had been supplied with beer from Einbeck since 1555. This continued until 1573, when the first Bavarian Hofbräuhaus was founded, initially at Trausnitz Castle in Landshut, and moved to Munich in 1589 to brew its own beer. In 1614, the Hofbräuhaus lured the brewmaster Elias Pilcher from Einbeck, who then brewed his Einbeck beer in Munich. In the Munich dialect, this evolved over time into the term Bockbier. The word Starkbier (strong beer) is much more recent, only appearing in the 20th century.

"Bärenherz brought us back a piece of quality of life ..." a nice conclusion for the work in the children's hospice Bärenherz Wiesbaden. It is the testimony of a mother who is affected that brings exactly what a children's hospice wants to be: a hostel that provides protection, security and security for families whose children are life-shortening and terminally ill. Here you will find advice, qualified care, loving care, relief and comfort, from diagnosis to the death of the child and beyond.
The Bärenherz Foundation supports such facilities for families with children who are terminally ill and have a low life expectancy, especially children's hospices.
